Friends, this is Beth’s gardening tip from January and I completely forgot to post it!!

Winter is the coldest season of the year and our heating systems are running 24/7. A warm, dry house is our sanctuary during this time, but it’s less inviting to houseplants. Dry air can leave plants susceptible to insect infestation and other problems. To protect them, create a more humid environment. Layer the bottom of a watertight and rustproof metal tray with pebbles. Fill the tray with water almost to the top of the pebbles. Then place the pots on the pebbles. The continuous evaporation of water will create the humid conditions in which plants thrive.  Replace the tray water periodically and water plants as usual. Your houseplants will be healthier and happier.
