Partners in Preservation is an initiative created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express to engage the public in preserving and increasing awareness of America’s historic places and their role in sustaining local communities. Since its inception in 2006, Partners in Preservation has awarded over $19 million in support of more than 200 sites.
The 2017 Partners in Preservation: Main Streets campaign invites the public to #VoteYourMainStreet to decide which historic sites along 25 of America’s favorite Main Streets should receive $2 million in preservation funding from American Express. The campaign runs from September 25th to October 31st.
Chartered by Congress in 1949, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has more than 60 years experience saving America’s historic places and promoting preservation as a tool to advance vibrant, sustainable cities and towns. This year American Express and the National Trust are partnering with the National Main Street Center for Partners in Preservation: Main Streets – a grassroots campaign recognizing 25 historic sites on American Main Streets.
America’s Main Streets represent a diverse tapestry of our history and culture. They also contribute to the local identity and vitality of our communities. To put this into perspective, every dollar that is invested in a Main Street program spurs $32.56 of new investment in the community. In 2016, this amounted to 4.65 billion nationwide.
Thank you for voting and supporting McKinney, Texas! Again, here is the link to vote:
