Good morning friends!
Today I want to tell you about a small business I have recently become acquainted with through my membership with McKinney Chamber of Commerce. I was introduced to Susan Gary, owner of Top Dog Pet Sitters, at the weekly LINKS networking breakfast, and very quickly saw the professionalism and passion Susan has for her business. I knew this was a story The Art of Living Beautifully readers needed to hear, and I hope this article leaves you feeling a certain peace knowing Top Dog Pet Sitters is available to you!
After serving as a minister at The First Christian Church in McKinney for 15 years, and managing volunteers for various non-profit agencies, Susan Gary decided to open her own pet sitting service here in McKinney with her husband, Erick. The couple had always wanted to own their own business, and when Susan began doing some pet-sitting in the evenings for a competitor, they realized this was the venture they had been waiting for.
Top Dog Pet Sitters opened in 2015, “We named it Top Dog, because we want to be the best pet care service in McKinney,” Susan told me.
Every pet in McKinney deserves to feel loved and safe when their humans are unavailable.
This belief is carried out every single day by Susan, Erick and their trained Team. Top Dog Pet Sitters will love your pet, respect your home and exceed your expectations. Top Dog prides itself not only on providing excellent care to pets, but also providing outstanding customer service to pet parents. Before Team Members complete a visit, they ask themselves, what can I do to serve this client by exceeding their expectations? This could be wiping up muddy paw prints or even changing a beeping smoke detector to keep pets from getting anxious.
Although called “Top Dog”, TDPS cares for animals of all kinds including cats, dogs, birds, fish, lizards, rodents and reptiles. For pups, visits include so much more than feeding, providing fresh water, and potty breaks. They play games, run in the water sprinklers, and even play on the stairs when the temperature is too hot for the animals to be outside. “We are constantly finding innovative ways to exercise and keep pups thinking cognitively when the weather doesn’t permit outdoor play,” Susan says. “And belly rubs. Lots of belly rubs.”
I learned from Susan there is a difference between a hobby pet sitter and a professional. The pet care Team at Top Dog are Pet CPR and first aid trained, and truly know how to care for pets–especially ones who are scared or anxious because their humans are gone. Friends, when we leave town our dog Bow gets bad anxiety. In fact, the one time we ever boarded her, she quit eating and drinking, and her hair began to fall out. I am so happy to know about Top Dog Pet Sitters because they offer pet parents peace of mind.
The most impressive piece of information Susan told me was that professional pet sitters are fully insured, educated, trained and pay their taxes! The Garys work hard to stay educated in the pet sitting world and attend conferences each year to receive additional training. After only 3 years in business, Top Dog Pet Sitters has over 500 pets in their care. No doubt this is a testament to how passionate they are about this business and how much they truly care for pets.
