The Spill: What’s in my Beach/Travel Bag

Hello and welcome to another addition of The Spill–inspired by Ivanka Trump’s regular series focused on sharing tips to #womenwhowork. To read my previous Spill: What’s Inside my Handbag, click here.

Beach Bags are a funny thing…we are always excited to purchase a new one, anticipating the sun-kissed tans and lazy beach days ahead of us.

Drinks in a coconut, spiffy waiters taking orders pool-side, palm trees…

I’m sorry, where was I?

Oh yes! The beach bag.

However fabulous our summer vacations and shenanigans may be in my day dreams, usually reality hits and our family 4Runner has driven us to the community pool. No coconut drinks allowed.

I still try to stay prepared and am spilling my beach/travel bag with you today for wherever the Summer may take you.

1.) The Getaway Bag

image

image

I cannot say it enough times. Of all the gorgeous pieces Stella and Dot has to offer, The Getaway Bag is by far the best. In my opinion, it the best thing you could ever purchase from me. It comes in 4 beautiful patterns, has an optional crossbody strap and unzips to give you 5 additional inches of space. Truly the best!

2.) SeaWag Waterproof iPhone case

image

I talked about this last Summer when I found this in Padre, and am still loving it. The owner of the boutique where I bought it said she put an old iPhone in the SeaWag case and flushed it in the toilet 5 times to see if it leaked at all…it didn’t! I keep my phone inside anytime we are near water. You can still text and talk with the phone inside, and can even shoot underwater videos. The SeaWag case even comes in tablet size!

3.) Flint Retractable Lint Roller

image

This is the perfect little lint roller for travel–it’s retractable, which keeps it from getting grimy from all the “litter” and crumbs at the bottom of your bag.

4.) Coola

image

Of course you know I was going to suggest Coola sunscreen! It is my all time favorite sunscreen–just smelling it makes me excited for Summer! My favorite scent is Fresh Mango. Here is what the Coola website has to say about it:

Protect and boost your skin’s defense against aging caused by the sun with this 80 minute water resistant, Farm to Face® sourced broad spectrum SPF 50 sunscreen. This high performance and non-greasy lotion has a fresh mango scent and contains 70%+ certified organic ingredients that protect and repair sun damaged skin. Organic Arnica Extract and Organic Linseed Oil, rich in Omegas 3 and 6, calms, tones, hydrates and aids in reducing redness. The phyto-protector Plankton Extract stimulates and rejuvenates as Organic Orange Water balances skin tone. Organic Avocado Oil, high in Vitamins A, B, E, and F, moisturizes, soothes and softens skin. Have your fun in the sun and then some with COOLA®!
Hypoallergenic
Ultra Water Resistant
Paraben Free
Ultra Sheer
Water Resistant (80 minutes)
No Nano-Sized Particles

I mean, where is the question! You can find the Coola site here, but I’ve also linked where to purchase it on Amazon…because I love Amazon!

5.) Outdoor Reversible Rio Floor Mat

image

I purchased this little mat in the early Spring to use as a place for the boys to eat their meals by the pool…even though we have a table, they think its cool to eat on the ground. They often eat popsicles while swimming and I thought this would be a way to protect my deck from red and purple popsicle juice stains. The synthetic weave hoses off easily and rolls up for storage. Love this little $20 purchase!

6.) Mermaid Hair Don’t Care tank

image

I bought this tank top in Padre back in March and love wearing it over a swimsuit with the Capri Wrap, or with cut-off shorts and a Bandeau top. It’s a fun nod to the Summer–and also to how much I wish mermaids were real.

7.) Trader Joe’s Coconut Shea Butter Lotion

image

This product has been staring at me from the “soap” aisle at Trader Joe’s since my very first visit there when TJs came to McKinney…maybe a year ago or so? Well, I just purchased it last week, and it is a new staple at the Palmer House. First, I’ll tell you that I love anything and everything that smells like coconut–I think because it makes me feel like I’m on vacation in somewhere tropical. This smells amazing, is full of certified organic ingredients and feels wonderful post sun.

8.) Tory Burch Flip Flops

image

I know these are nothing new to you girls, but I still love mine! Although I often purchase my TB flips from Amazon, look at these adorable crab print ones from Nordstrom!

9.) Striped Beach Towel

I love really big, fluffy beach towels and these by Noble Excellence do not disappoint!

10.) Reusable Cucumber Cooling Gel Packs

image

I found these at Paper Affair in Austin last month when I was checking on my Stella girls. They look like cucumbers but are filled with cooling gel. Just store in the refrigerator and use when summer travels give you a headache, swollen eyes or worse…They aren’t available through Paper Source online, so I have linked a similar product I found on Amazon.

11.) Stella!!!

image

image

Yes, I am that girl who wears jewelry to the pool. I’m sorry but dangly earrings never hurt anybody! Of course Stella has tons of beautiful pieces right now–hello gorgeous new capsule collection!! The Isadora Hoops and fantastic Triangle Lariat are perfect for the pool or with a sundress. Hoops look good on everyone and the Triangle Lariat is a sexy delicate, beautiful by itself or layered with your other Stella favorites.

Happy travels friends! If you have any fantastic beach/travel bag

go-tos I would love to hear about them!

-ciao for now-

Lauren
