From the desk of Lauren Palmer
I am not a huge tv watcher, but I am someone who loves to get lost in a story, both movies and books. Below I’ve rounded up some of my favorite movies that transport me abroad every time I watch them…and don’t we all need to be transported right now to a whimsical love story in a beautiful setting far away? If you have any others to add to this list, please send them my way. I’ve seen all of these a thousand times and am always looking for some new ones to add to my repertoire.
So those 4 above are my most favorite. Have you seen them? I love love love Europe, and I love all the music in each of these films.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a cute movie and sequel about an adventure in a retirement community in India. There are beautiful colors in the films which always make me very happy. I have never traveled to India before, but this series makes me want to visit.
Well, of course Under the Tuscan Sun is on this list. Great movie and really cool book to read if you’ve never read it. The film and the book are very different. I haven’t seen Paris Can Wait before, also starring Diane Lane. Have you? Should I add it to the list?
Have you seen The Italian Key? It was on Prime forever but I never watched it. It’s off now, but only $4 to rent. I watched the trailer and it looks really sweet. Thoughts?
Okay these 4 below are favorites from my childhood.
- I LOVE this version of The Secret Garden.
- Date with an Angel is cheesy, far-fetched, and awesome.
- 7 Brides for 7 Brothers is a really fun musical about 7 brothers who steal their “brides” and then cause an avalanche so that their families can’t come back and claim them.
- Thoroughly Modern Millie stars Julie Andrews and is my favorite movie of all time.
