From the desk of Lauren Palmer

Friends, last weekend I had tickets to the pop-up event We Ate Well Food Tours hosted with our very own A Taste of Paris, and y’all, this was one of the most fun events I have done in forever! It was super simple and low key which friends, we need in our lives from time to time! A relaxing picnic in the park with a French culinary expert is the way to go!

The lunch picnic began beneath the a shady canopy of trees at Mitchell Park in downtown McKinney. Each ticket holder (or pair) was given a picnic basket filled to the brim with locally sourced food including:

Spinach Hummus and house-made Sweet Potato Chips from Harvest which we began snacking on while Tricia introduced Lorie to the group, and Lorie told us about her sweet memories of picnics when she was a child.

An incredibly stocked meat, cheese, and fruit platter–everything was from Trader Joe’s!¬†Reach out to Lorie or Tricia to find out about the cheese with the pepper rind. It was so good and I can’t remember the name.

French Baguette and the roasted veggies and red pepper hummus from Patina Green (forgot to take a pic of the veggies)

Sparkling French Lemonade from World Market

Chocolates from Goodies and and French Macarons from Savor

And more! We snacked and learned about French cheeses, how to arrange a meat and cheese board, good places for picnics (hello, the couch!), what a self-respecting French person would have in their baskets, and Lorie even told us what fabulous trips she is leading to France in 2020. (The French Riviera is calling my name, y’all!)

A sweet reader attended the picnic with me, so it was fun to visit with her while sharing a picnic lunch. These are the types of experiences we need to be incorporating into our lives. On Wednesday my May magazine published and in it is The Art of Living Beautifully manifesto–a history of how I got started on this quest to live beautifully and inspire others to do the same. Things like the We Ate Well Food Tours and A Taste of Paris trips enrich our personal cultures and bring beauty and flavor into our lives.

Don’t wait! Live beautifully today!
