Ovation Academy of Performing Arts opened its doors in the fall of 2018 to students in grades 6-12 looking to pursue their passions through professional training in the performing arts. Where traditional education often leaves gaps in both emotional and educational support for young artistic professionals, Ovation Academy prides itself on providing a supportive family-like atmosphere where students benefit from an individualized education model which reflects their personal goals and learning style.

The students at Ovation are pursuing careers in acting, singing, dancing, and the technical and design realms within the entertainment industry. As young working professionals, they have unique situations that require a flexible education model not found in public schools. Along with providing a traditional course load (offered virtually so students can continue their studies remotely if a professional job is booked), Ovation staffs Learning Coaches and Master Instructors that teach Business Management, Performer Etiquette, and Money Management—to name a few. Ovation also provides networking opportunities with talent scouts, managers, agents, and directors as well as elite college recruiters. Additional life skills are taught by giving each student the responsibility of weekly chores such as washing dishes, taking out the trash, or vacuuming floors. “Weekly chores are so beneficial to the kids,” Ovation’s Office Manager Amy Lacey told me. “They have learned to take pride in their space and that respect is a two-way street.”

“Our motto is ‘Good humans make great artists make a strong community’ and it grounds all that we do at Ovation,” Kathy Moreno, Dean of Students explained. “We strive to equip our students to be good-hearted people, hard-working professionals, and respectable leaders.” The Academy’s participation in regional, state, and national competitions have created a buzz about Ovation—the only academy of its kind in the area. As students continue to place and win at competitions, book commercials, and are granted acceptance into prestigious thespian workshops and colleges, Ovation continues to teach their students core values of community service and humanitarianism.

The students at Ovation Academy are talented, hard-working professionals with exceptionally bright futures. Auditions for fall enrollment are currently underway. If you have a student interested in learning more about Ovation, please see their website for more information.

Thank you Ovation Academy for sponsoring this post.
