Hello and welcome to the 5th day of October. This week has been jam packed with content, magazines and events and has taken me a few days to finally get to our October newsletter and events calendar. Forgive the tardiness.

If this is your first October in McKinney, may I welcome you and express what a fun time it is to live in our unique little city-village. We have lots of “stuff” happening at The Art of Living Beautifully this month, first being we published our second issue of TAOLB magazine!

That’s right! Just a month after our first magazine published in September, we already have more wonderful content for you, and this time we are spotlighting a non-profit organization located right here in McKinney, ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship.

The ManeGait Gala at the ‘Gait will kick off October this weekend in celebration of their 10th year in operation. This function is completely sold out, but if you are still interested in becoming involved with ManeGait, please visit their website at

You can read more about ManeGait by reading this article published last April.

Something else I am so excited about this coming weekend is a Fall Photo opportunity at Lady Butterbug Shoppe. Owner, Karla Ritchey has decked out her 1952 Chevy farmtruck with beautiful fall decor and invites all of McKinney to come visit on Sunday afternoon to take family pictures, visit her store, and bring donations for the Samaritan Inn. If you have never been to Lady Butterbug Shoppe, you will love visiting this charming home decor gem and gardens. Hope to see you there THIS SUNDAY FROM 1:00-4:00!

On October 21st, Adriatica will host the first McKinney Wine and Music Festival from 12:00-4:00. This inaugural eventĀ at Adriatica will feature twelve of the best North Texas wineries, a variety of delicious restaurants, family friendly activities, a grape stomp and a full lineup of talented local musicians! The culinary experience tent will feature demonstrations from chefs, local culinary experts and the students from the Texas ProStart Program. I am so happy to see another fantastic McKinney festival happening this fall!

Buress Law Firm is hosting their 7th Annual Law Picnic benefitting ManeGait. Burress Law hosts and funds this family friendly event each year and also matches guests’ donations up to $5,000. All proceeds are given to ManeGait at the conclusion of the picnic. Over the past 6 years, Buress Law, together with their friends, clients and family have donated more than $45,000 to ManeGait. Limited seats available. Please RSVP to

Make it a fantastic October, McKinney.

Please email me at Lauren@theartoflivingbeautifully if you have any events you would like to see published on our events calendar.
