Have you ever noticed how boredom often leads to creativity? Seriously, it was boredom with the status quo that led me to start The Art of Living Beautifully in 2014. It was boredom that caused me to have the entire house painted when Brian was on a golf trip in the fall of 2011. And it was boredom brought on by 10 days in bed due the flu that caused Kara Hannon to start 4.0 Couture.

In January of this year, Kara Hannon kept herself entertained while recovering from the flu by watching The Dallas Cowboys make it to the playoffs, “Everytime I turned on the TV it was something else about the Cowboys, and the idea to make graphic t-shirts in celebration popped into my head.” Her first design “Waylon, Willie and Witten”¬†is still her best seller today. The response was so huge, in fact, Hannon was scared she would have to refund people their money because operations weren’t entirely in place. She made it through, however, and sold hundreds of units that first week in business.

4.0 Couture¬†celebrates home team loyalty and tailgating life. Kara personally designs each t-shirt in her home office here in McKinney; the t shirts are screen printed here in town as well. Doesn’t it make you happy when local businesses support other local businesses!!??

If you aren’t local to North Texas and are needing a little game day flair to support your favorite team, have no fear because Kara ships all over the country. Her designs can also be found in various retailers around Texas, and YES she does custom orders! 4.0 Couture recently began selling baseball hats and other exciting expansions are on the horizon…hello team-themed accessories!! Be sure to find 4.0 Couture on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest to stay in the know about their newest styles!

This summer 4.0 Couture will launch their Affiliates program for college students looking to make some extra money. For every t-shirt an Affiliate sells, they earn $5 in commission! How simple is that?

Wear a t-shirt.

Gain a complement.

Sell a t-shirt (or 5!) to the complementor.

Make $$$.

And still plenty of time to study!

*If you know a collegiate interested in the Affiliate program, please email Kara at

This time of year high school graduations are happening right and left. Is there a better gift to give a college bound grad than a cool graphic T representing their school of choice?? Did I mention how soft they are and that 10% of annual profits are donated to scholarship funds? Truly the best gift all around.

“I never made a 4.0 in college, so this is my opportunity.” ¬†–Kara Hannon, owner 4.0 Couture
