Holistic Vita Massage and Wellness, McKinney Texas

Today I want to introduce you to Linda Cole and Holistic Vita Massage and Wellness, an innovative, if hidden, massage studio we are fortunate to have in McKinney.

I had the opportunity to meet with Linda, and experience several elements of holistic massage therapy I never had before. Not only were these treatments new to me, but I hadn’t been privy to the physical and/or mental health benefits holistic massage therapy can provide.

I hope my words today leave you feeling informed, curious and eager to make an appointment!

About Linda

Born in Pernambuco, Brazil, Linda Cole arrived in the United States five years ago. She began studying massage in 2014, and believes it is one of the best non-invasive ways to acquire a healthier, happier life.

My goal is to improve my clients’ quality of life by raising awareness to their bodies; to understand the root cause of their symptoms and work from there.”

Linda is vibrant and kind and eager to share her gift. The love she has for her chosen profession is apparent as she familiarizes herself with each client by asking questions and explaining the intricate parts of the therapy she provides.

Working at her in-home studio allows Linda to take time to understand her client’s needs and concerns, an aspect not often allowed when employed by a large spa or massage chain.

About the Studio

On my first visit, I approached the door while spa music greeted me from outdoor speakers. A security camera stared down from it’s perch above the front door, and Linda opened the door within seconds of my knocking.

After asking me to remove my shoes, she guided me down a short hallway to her massage haven. This in-home set-up is truly ideal, as it’s location doesn’t require clients to journey through her entire house. I also learned that the spa has it’s own private entrance on the side of her home which she urged me to use on my next visit. The scent of eucalyptus, lavender and citrus essential oils permeated the air as I walked into the studio, and I mentally shifted into spa mode.

The studio has two focal points: a reclaimed wood accent wall that was rustic and calming; and Linda’s custom-built Ashiatsu bars which hung from the ceiling by industrial metal braces. Tidy rows of essential oils, hot stones, stacks of pristine white towels and a plush massage table made with Comphy Brand sheets all added to the luxurious appeal of Holistic Vita. The private bathroom, shower and changing room ensured privacy and comfort.

About the Services

When selecting my services, I decided to throw my norm out the window, and choose treatments I had never before experienced. My selections included a ninety minute Ashiatsu barefoot massage, and a basic neck, shoulder and scalp massage paired with Reiki/Energy Work.

In researching this article, I learned that Linda is one of a handful of practitioners certified in Ashiatsu massage in the entire North Dallas Metroplex. According to

In the Japenese language “Ashi” translates to foot and “Atsu” into pressure. Ashiatsu DeepFeet Bar Therapy, is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet and body weight. Working with gravity instead of against it, Ashiatsu therapists are able to provide an effective therapeutic massage without causing pain or discomfort to themselves or the receiving client. Cream or oil is applied to the body making this deep therapeutic massage very fluid and seamless.  Parallel bars are used above the massage table for balance, support and client safety.

Ashiatsu is the most intensive form of massage one can receive. Although her hands are used at times during this massage, the majority of it is done with her feet. She often checked if the pressure was too much or too little, and I felt perfectly comfortable being truthful if I wanted her to lessen the pressure. The hot stones were medicinal themselves, and I hope to add those on to every treatment I have with Linda in the future!

Reiki is a Japanese technique used to check and balance energy within the body. It is used for stress reduction, relaxation and even with the intention to promote healing. A Reiki Master checks for energy disfluencies by hovering their hands over the body’s chakras, and feeling for energy breaks. The use of essential oils, tuning forks and even breathing exercises are used to stimulate and balance the energy flow within each chakra.

As farfetched as this treatment seemed, I opted to enter with a complete open-mind. Linda explained the seven chakras stimulated by Reiki. These energy centers within the human body help regulate all its processes, from organ function to the immune system and emotions. (source)

I’ll tell you when I left my Reiki treatment, I felt completely balanced, even-keeled and in a positive frame of mind. I will definitely have a Reiki treatment again.

Although I selected these two a-typical forms of treatment, Linda also offers Signature Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Pre-Natal Massage and Cupping Therapy. If you are interested in trying a holistic form of massage or therapy to improve health and energy, if you have never experienced Ashiatsu, or if you are needing to relax and feel pampered, may I suggest contacting Linda at Holistic Vita Massage and Wellness today.
