How are you enjoying your shearling vest? Sporting it everywhere I hope.
I enjoyed styling today’s look because it reminded me a bit a of seventies rocker. Leather pants. Leopard. Shearling. Maybe a channeling a little Stephen Tyler is just the ticket when headed out for drinks with the girls or to Dallas for an art show. It’s sexy without being revealing, which is good for those of us who are no longer in our early twenties. Nothing says bad style more than a woman who refuses to wear age-appropriate clothing. Yowza.
Your shearling vest is instantly “dressier” when worn over solid black. I paired it with a black silk chiffon tuxedo shirt and faux leather leggings. There are no ruffles or sequins or additional acoutrement on the blouse which is why the shearling can incorporate so easily with the dressier fabric. The lines are clean and simple. A leopard print scarf and pumps add some edge, and also pay homage to the earthiness of the vest. There are times when many of us would feel indiscreet in leather leggings or leopard print heels. Don’t. By keeping the other elements of the look minimalistic, these “wow” factors can remain understated, and you won’t be sending the “Look at me! Look at me!” signal. Instead, you will have created one cohesive look that’s both sophisticated and cool.

Cool post. I like your logic behind why the pieces work together. I saw a girl my age (43) in leather pants the other day, and I thought she looked awesome.
Well done!
