It’s Friday which means I’m linking up with my friend Erika to bring you my top 5 for the week…actually…I really only have one favorite this week: James Colin Palmer.
He turned 6 on the 8th and this week has been all about him, so I’m going to share some James bday stuff with you and call it a day.
Also, I have 40 people, a food truck, Santa Claus and a lot of merriment coming to my house tomorrow for a Family Christmas partayyy, so I really need to get busy. 😉
James was born on December 8, 2009 at 1:08 PM. (I had to look up the time because I completely forgot.)
In the days that followed my delivery I remember a crushing feeling of emotion constantly lingering and growing in my chest. I know other moms can relate to the shock of all consuming love that comes with your first born.
James had a huge fan club right off the bat. Sadie was the president.
My best friend from TCU drove over from Dallas.
His godfather came to visit the day he was born.
And his godmother came a few days after that.
And the picture taking continued…
Can you even believe how quickly time flies?!
(back to present day)
James wanted to have a ‘football birthday’ which I interpreted as he wanted his friends to come over and play football. So they did.
There is a park behind our house and the boys did drills, split into teams and played a game for two hours. I forced them to come in for pizza and cake, and then they right back on the field.
As a surprise, I asked our friends’ two teenage boys to come over and be the coaches. They play high school football–which basically means NFL in James’s eyes. When he saw them walk up to the house he ran as fast as he could to them for a high 5. I cried. When your normally very serious kid radiates joy–well–I think tears are in order. Plus its the holidays, so I always cry.
On his actual birthday, James walked into the living room as a 6 year old.
Brian picked up donuts at James’s request.
He opened presents.
I made him take a thousand pictures before we left for school.
Then Brian, Sadie and myself met him for lunch at school. The one time of the year I voluntarily bring him McDonald’s.
That night, James requested Hibachi so that is where we had dinner. Not one healthy meal all day. I guess its okay for your birthday.
So that’s our week, a whole lot of James.
Happy Weekend All!
-ciao for now-
PS: If you are a prayer, please pray for the weather tomorrow. It is supposed to rain all day, and I REALLY need it to be mild for our Christmas Party. If you aren’t a prayer, positive thoughts are appreciated. 😉
