As I look back at all the delicious epicurean recipes we have archived on this site, it’s difficult to believe we have been publishing The Art of Living Beautifully for four years! So many of these recipes are spectacular and today I am giving you a collection of our favorite summer dishes to serve while celebrating the 4th of July. Some are from Lorie, some are from me, all are fantastic! Also check out our 4th of July Favorite Food pinboard for even more ideas!

Fruit Filled Drinks

My friend Kim gave me this recipe for Summer Sangria years and years ago, and it was one of the first I published on The Art of Living Beautifully back in 2014. This Sangria is delicious…but BEWARE a bit lethal! I especially love Sangria because of how beautiful it looks in a clear pitcher with sliced fruit floating on top. Be sure to also have a pitcher of Detox Water for guests who aren’t drinking. It is so simple to add cut up citrus (or whatever fruit you like!) to a pitcher of filtered water.

Chilled Cucumber Soup

I know this sounds a little odd, but serving this chilled Cucumber Soup in small shot glasses is such a fun and atypical dish to serve at a party. My friend and long-time neighbor Dawn shared this recipe with me years ago, and I enjoy making it each summer…especially when the Farmers Market has freshly gown cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes for me to use!

Salty Dogs

When my family heads to South Padre each summer, one of our favorite cocktails to make is the Salty Dog. I don’t know if it’s because I love the tangy flavor of grapefruit, or the fun memories that these cocktails evoke, but Salty Dogs are a definite necessity on the 4th of July!

Spicy Shrimp Salad

This recipe for Spicy Shrimp Salad was the very first recipe Lorie shared with The Art of Living Beautifully readers last May. Friends, this is a MUST MAKE this summer whether celebrating the fourth or just having lunch at home. It is delicious, simple and very tasty!

Thai Chicken Satay

When Brian and I were first married in 2006, I was given a cook book from Williams Sonoma with this recipe in it. Thai Chicken Satay has remained a favorite in our household and was even featured on the KaptainCook App back in 2016! This is a simple summer dish both kids and adults will love!

Panzanella Salad

Above any other dish (salad, entree, or appetizer) Panzanella Salad is my all time favorite. When home-made dressing soaks into home-made croutons, magic happens and suddenly salad just became amazing! Do yourself and your party guests a favor…make Panzanella Salad this summer.

This recipe for Vanilla Bean Butter Cake with Berries is both delicious and patriotic! Celebrate the 4th by serving friends and family this incredibly decadent while refreshing vanilla cake from Lorie Fangio. You will be so happy that you did!
