From the desk of Lauren Palmer
Good morning McKinney!
You may remember the article I published last fall about McKinney-based graphic designer and owner of CW Designs, Carol Sullivan (aka The Map Chick). Originally from Wisconsin, Carol began her career in graphic designing almost 20 years ago. After living in Chicago for 15 years, Carol and her husband Jeremy, co-owner of CW Designs, moved to McKinney five years ago and haven’t looked back. “McKinney has been so good for my family,” Carol told me at her office on 230 Hunt Street, “I can’t imagine raising my kids anywhere else.”
Because of her specialized skills in the designer wedding concept, Carol is a renowned designer with clients all over the world. Her expertise includes the creation of custom invitations, wedding maps, programs, place cards, menu cards, seating charts, gift bags, screen-printed tote bags, programs, gift tags, napkins, table numbers, and much more – or as she puts it: “Basically anything a bride needs printed for her wedding, I create.”
More recently, Carol has been hired as the design specialist for corporate events, a new avenue of business she has found very exciting. “My job begins with a design meeting with their event planner. We look at venue aesthetics such as table linens and china, color charts, even the company logo, and then I get to work creating custom graphics that represent both the tone of the event and their corporate branding.” Carol’s graphics make each event extra special.
Recently, Dallas company Lucas Group hired Carol to create graphics for their annual corporate retreat. Carol’s creations gave a cohesive theme to the entire event. CW Designs works to share the company message through design and thoughtful prose, aiding in the client’s goal to thank, refresh, and excite their employees before beginning a new year of work.
What makes Carol so sought after is her ability to create specialized graphics that combine beauty and function. One of her favorite quotes is by famed graphic designer Milton Glaser: “There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW!” Carol strives for the WOW factor by paying attention to detail and utilizing unique printing techniques including laser cutting, white ink printing on dark stock, and even printing on wood veneer. Her talent for design and her infectious smile are the icing on the cake.
If you or your company are looking for help making your event extra special and customized, reach out to Carol by visiting her website, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. You can even head over to her Pinterest Boards for loads of inspiration!
Thank you, CW Designs, for sponsoring this post.
