A new year usually means changes in home décor, but one major design trend that I hope to never see go, is the use of cozy throws and blankets! Whether it’s winter and I’m by the fire, or it’s the middle of summer and I’m enjoying the AC, one thing is for sure-I’m going to be cuddled up with a cozy blanket!  These days, however, cozy throws and blankets are used for more than to give warmth and comfort during the winter months. Incorporating a bold blanket or throw can completely transform the look of a room! Adding texture or color to enhance your home décor is simple and easy with the right color, material, and design of your throw blankets.

TIP 1: Draping a throw blanket over the arm or back of sofas and chairs, or across the bottom of a bed makes any room feel cozy and inviting. This adds interest to your room but also puts the throw in a convenient place for guests to use when lounging.

TIP 2: So, how do you casually drape a throw blanket without it looking too staged or like someone slept on the sofa last night? There really is an art to this! When draping a throw blanket over a chair or sofa, I like to first fold the blanket lengthwise, and then drape over the piece of furniture. Ruffling the edges slighting gives the throw blanket a little more casual look.

TIP 3: Toss or roll up a few blankets in a basket near your porch when entertaining outdoors on chilly nights. Your guest will instantly feel welcomed and the party will last way into the night.

TIP 4: Leave a basket of blankets and some cozy throw pillows by the fireplace for easy access when friends and family are warming up by the fire.

TIP 5: During summer months, store cozy throws in a cabinet, closet, or chest.

There are many different ways to incorporate cozy throws and blankets into your home, and a luxurious faux fur blanket draped over a chair or sofa is my favorite during the cold winter months!

Live with what you love.
